In parts of China, when a baby is born, family and friends of the child donate fabric pieces to the child's mother. She then makes a quilt for the baby from the fabric. It is said that the luck, energy and good wishes from all of the families and friends who contributed, surround the child when she is wrapped in the quilt. The quilt is then passed down from generation to generation. We are honoring this tradition from our daughter’s homeland.

I am making three quilts for Callie out of the squares we get from family, friends, and my internet quilt swapping group. The squares you see to the right are the 3" squares that will makes up Callie's cuddle quilt. She will also have an identical quilt made from 1.5" squares for her dollies. Her large keepsake quilt is made in the "Sunbonnet Sue" style. If you click on one of the squares you will see a pop-up of the "Sue", or Callie as I like to call them, that I made from that fabric.
